1. Mission Statement

The mission of the independent Referendum Office is to provide the public with access to information about the referendum on the principles to guide the province's approach to treaty negotiations with Canada and First Nations in British Columbia.

2. Mandate

The British Columbia Referendum Office (BCRO) is an independent agency that has been established to provide the public with factual and timely information about the referendum. BCRO has opened this web site and a toll-free line for responding to referendum-related questions from the public.

BCRO is one of two neutral offices responsible for managing the referendum vote. The other office is Elections BC, which can answer public enquiries about voter registration and voting procedures, and how to obtain a voting package.

BCRO is a temporary office and will cease operations following the voting deadline.
